§ 46-101. Inspections generally.

  • It shall be the duty of the Fire Department to inspect all buildings, basements, premises, structures, streets and alleys, excepting only the interior of private dwellings, within the city for the purpose of ascertaining, determining and causing to be corrected any condition liable to cause or spread fire, or any violation of any statute, ordinance or regulation affecting the fire hazard. A complete inspection shall be made at least once in every two months of premises within the fire limits of the city, and at least every three months of premises outside the fire limits and within the city limits. The Board of Public Works and Safety shall adopt rules and regulations relative to inspections. Inspection tours shall be so arranged that each member of the Fire Department shall make a complete inspection of the entire city at least once each year, and the Chief of the Fire Department shall make a complete inspection at least three times each year. A full and complete record of all such inspections shall be kept by the Chief of the Fire Department.
